Great South Australian Duck Race Special

All aboard the Great South Australian Duck Race Special!

Departing Mt Barker, our train will steam* over the southern Mt Lofty Ranges, and down to Strathalbyn, where there’s plenty of time to waddle down to Great South Australian Duck Race, held in the Soldier’s Memorial Park, on the banks of the Angas River.

The giant ‘Moby Duck’ will be keeping an eye on his ducklings, and ‘Clucka Duck’ will be wondering around the park – and even on board our train as we steam into town from Mt Barker.

The Race that stops Strathalbyn – The Great Duck Race; will be held during the day, with 2500 numbered ducks being helped down the river by a huge wind machine. Tickets to be a ‘racing duck owner’ for the day, will be available for purchase on-board and should your duck cross the line first, there are some great cash prizes up for grabs!

Our train will have an extended stay over in Strathalbyn, to make sure everyone gets to see the big race, before a mid-afternoon return to Mt Barker.
Train departs Mt Barker 10am, returns approx. 3.20pm
